Can The Progression Of Nearsightedness Be Slowed?

I read this article today about slowing the progress of nearsightedness.  My own experience may prove this to be true.  My eyes have not gotten any worse for about 10 years now.  My guess is that my contacts are the reason.  For more info check out the following:

At this year’s annual meeting of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), researchers presented data that shows specially designed gas permeable contact lenses that alter how light is focused in the peripheral retina (similar to lens designs used for orthokeratology) can reduce elongation of the eye that causes myopia progression in children.

Untitled

40 million Americans wear contact lenses, but many are putting their health at risk with poor habits. On Wednesday, Duluth optometrist, Dr. Teresa Theobald, joined Good Morning Northland to talk about the use and misuse of contact lens wear.

Like I have said several times before, you must take care of your eyes.  Watch this video for further information.

First Glasses

I remember my first glasses.  I had trouble walking because when looking down at the floor it always looked like there was a step in front of me.  It took some getting used to it.  I always hated being called "four eyes" and laughed at by the kids who didn't have to wear them.  My self esteem plumetted until I was able to get my first contacts.  I was then "beautiful" again - at least in my own eyes!  Now I am researching colour contact lenses and I would love to have blue eyes.  Baby blue - ahh.  It would certainly be a kick to see my dark brown eyes turn blue!

Becoming Famous Using Colour Contact Lenses

So this is how someone becomes famous:

Hilton became hooked on obtaining celebrity status. Hilton began a well- financed and remarkable campaign to her herself in front of public eye, on television, on screen and in music also. To get all these things she did plastic surgery, tinted contact lenses, hair coloring for looking “hot”.

I wonder if I could do this too!  Probably not.  I don't have the money.

What do you think it would take to become a celebrity?

Be Dramatic With Colour Contact Lenses

What colour do you want your eyes to end up being? Let’s start with what color your eyes are to begin with. If they're brown like mine, you may want to have those "baby blues". You no doubt know the ones. They're so intriguing and striking. It is now actually possible to have that blue you desire. The deep hues of current colour contact lenses will beautifully conceal the brown color, making your eyes blue or green or any other colour you choose.

Having blue eyes, wouldn't you rather have brown eyes for a bit of time? Your friends may start looking at you and think there is something very different and appealing about you, however, they won't recognize it's your eyes that happen to be different. They might ask if your makeup or hair has become different? Or you guys, they will assume you've been exercising and appear more ripped. Shock! It's your eyes that aren't blue you tell them! Your friends say it is so cool and may wish to do it for them selves.

Should your eyes really be a very subtle colour and, you probably know this, pretty uninteresting. You can actually really have a wonderful effect and increase your attractiveness with a wonderful collection of different colors. You’re able to look just as great as your friends.

Information About Bifocal Contact Lenses

The University of Iowa - Hospital & Clinics has a series of "Contact Lens Frequently Asked Questions" that I found interesting.  I was particularly interested in the information about bifocal contacts and something called "monovision" where each eye has a different lens.  One will be for distance and one will be for close up (reading).

Halloween Contact Lenses - How To Protect Your Eyes

In order to prevent infections, conjunctivitis (I had to look this one up - it is also known as "pink eye") and allegies, you must use and clean your contact lenses properly.

1.  Always clean your hands before touching your lenses.  That means soap and water.

2. Your lenses should always be stored in fresh solution.  Discard the old solution and rinse your case when you put the lenses in your eyes.

3. DO NOT make your own solutions.  Only use the recommended products and solutions

4. If your lenses are NOT for "extended-wear", never sleep with your lenses in your eyes.

5. If your lenses are "disposable", only use the lenses for the prescribed period of time and dispose of the old ones.

6. If you are going to be applying make-up, do it AFTER you have inserted the lenses.  This will help prevent the lenses from getting in contact with the makeup.

7. MOST IMPORTANT: If you eyes start watering, are painful, are red, or if you have any discomfort at all, REMOVE the lenses immediately!

Contact Lens Recall Alert - Please Read

We at eColourContactLenses were very concerned  about a recall of Acuvue TruEye Brand contact lenses that I think you might be interested in reading.  I worry about damaging my eyes by wearing contact lenses but I try to be careful to clean and moisturize them properly and I hope you do to.

1 Day Acuvue contact lenses have been recalled by Johnson & Johnson (J&J) in 24 countries, not including the USA or Canada, following reports of irritation, stinging and pain among some users. ....................
............
The company believes the source of the problem is in the Republic of Ireland, where the product is produced.

The recall, which initially only affected Japan and some other Asian countries, is now extended to Australia, Germany, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and Singapore.

White Coloured Contact Lenses for Halloween

Halloween is coming soon so I have been researching the different Coloured Contact Lenses that are available.  Is "white" a colour?

I found this article that I want to share.  It gave some great advice about wearing contact lenses.

All-White Coloured Contact Lenses are also known as ‘whiteout contact lenses’ and they will give any Halloween costume that extra scare factor. These white coloured contact lenses completely blank out your natural eye colour, giving you a really shocking look. These lenses will look best if your eyes are nice and clear – if your eyes get red it can spoil the all-white effect. Everyone’s eyes can get irritated when wearing contacts but there are a few tricks I recommend to combat red-eye.

  1. Do not wear eye make up or other lenses prior to wearing all-white coloured contact lenses
  2. 30 minutes before putting in your lenses, use redness reducing eye drops
  3. Apply any make up carefully, ensuring that nothing gets into your eyes
  4. Make sure your white coloured contact lenses are completely clean before inserting them – rinse them in lens solution a few times and check for signs of wear and tear
  5. Avoid smoky environments – smoke dries out and irritates eyes
  6. Drink plenty of water – this will help keep your eyes moist and fresh
